Our Herdmaster says, "We had a good time on May 29 when we were joined by our biggest group yet, over 45 folks, who came to learn about fainting goats and Karakachan LGDs and have a little fun - Appalachian style.  All proceeds that day from sales went to help a family in the neighborhood cover medical expenses for their child. "

One of the keys to success for any good party is arriving in style - here we have two wagon loads of folks coming to the farm.  Since we didn't have enough parking space for everyone, we ran the John Deere shuttle from Cecil's Chapel Church just up the road to our farm.
After the folks had a tour of the farm, we got down to serious business.  The first event was the Goat Costume Contest.  Here we see teams going into the field to pick their goat to costume.  Three very qualified judges (Dusty, Agie and Caleb) rated the efforts based on Team Name, Theme and Number of Items Used (and how much the whole thing made them laugh).
The winning effort is shown above.  Team Name:  Get 'er Done; Theme:  Goat Divas; Number of Items Used:  9 - that goat was loaded down!  Congrats to Karlie Rae, Morgan and Karin for a great job - and thanks to Red Summer Wine for being such a good sport.

Next on the list of activities was the Rebel Yell contest.  It was good to see so many people give it a try.  We were mighty impressed by the lung strength displayed.  We were laughing so hard, we've forgotten who the winners were.  If you remember, send us a note.
Before lunch, we had some home made ice cream churning.  Look at Angie, have you ever seen such a lovely ice cream churner?
Here is Karin also a lovely ice cream churner!
Of course, always at the helm, the Herdmaster, assisted by Mr. Valach, the official Syncope Falls photographer and boatmaster.
It's what we want to see - happy campers.
Lunch time! And that's the spirit - in costume!
The homemade ice cream was a huge hit - as were the Syncope Falls t-shirts, hats, pens and calendars.
After lunch, it was time to learn how to make a chicken faint.  We were impressed by the quick learning of these fine folks.  It is good to see that the important skills will be passed down!
Now Karly Rae is giving it a successful try to the wonder of the crowd.
This is a good way to impress your friends - how many people can say they've made a chicken faint??
So, it came time for the fun to end and we loaded up the wagon to begin the shuttle back to the church.
Some folks had such a good time that they were sad to leave.  We look forward to more fun next year.
It's future Luke and Daisy Duke!
